About Advanced Machining Services

The Shop

Advanced Machining Services was born in 2002 and was immediately met with success.  The owners, Mark Wolfkeil and Craig Achatz, put almost 70 years of combined precision machining experience to work and created a business that strives to provide quality through excellence.

After 3 years of successful business, the addition of several machines and employees, Advanced Machining Services needed to expand their shop.  Land was purchased in Bend, Oregon off of American Lane, plans were drawn, and ground was broken in March 2005.  The 10,000 sq foot machining facility provides a home for Advanced Machining Services as well as a local aircraft business, Kawak Aviation Technologies.  The doors opened in March 2006 and Advanced Machining Services has continued to turn out superior precision made products.

Karen Sempert

Business Development Manager

Karen brings over 20 years experience in sales, machining, manufacturing, and distribution to Advanced Machining Services. She is a result driven sales professional with exposure to business development, marketing, as well as strategic planning. She conducts market research, identifies emerging market trends and finds inroads to find a more cost effective product to include an expedited turnaround time on products manufactured in the U.S.A.

Karen’s initial market exposure was heavily centered on the semiconductor industry and involvement ranged from distribution of electronic components to engineering, designing, and manufacturing of replacement parts for the microchip sector here in the United States. As these customers slowly reverted back to their overseas suppliers, Karen’s focus was shifted to different industry markets to keep her companies in the middle of the network with a sideways shift to different specific products.

The industries being served now include food processing and packaging equipment, aircraft replacement parts, firearms components, electronic guidance system components, and several niche marketing pieces protected by confidentiality agreements. Karen has also been instrumental in customer relations and development of new inventions and modifications or improvement to existing ones.
